I love to focus on capturing things like your baby's cute little toes, the way they yawn or how they sleep as they snuggle their teeny newborn body in your arms. My style is for my families to not be very camera aware and for everything to feel very natural and in the moment. This also means no fancy baby poses. Instead I focus on how you cuddle, love on and interact together with your newborn.

My main priorities are to:

capture all the details you never want to forget
relieve any stress you may have over planning and documenting your newborn photos

A great time to schedule your newborn session is between 10-14 days after birth/your due date.

If you'd like more time to recover and relax into a routine, I recommend scheduling 3-4 weeks after birth. The older they are, the more active they tend to be! It's all a personal preference.

Storyteller newborn sessions are typically documented right in your home to capture raw emotions, real moments, all your special nursery decorations and any small detail or sentimental item you never want to forget.

As you relax in your home, I'll capture all your baby's cute features from their nose to their toes as you cuddle and love on them!

Receive your images through a gallery link within 2 weeks with full print rights. You’ll be able to save and download your images, (in high resolution or for social media posting) purchase prints or design your own album, and download your gallery as a mobile app on your phone for easy access and sharing!

Your Des Moines, Iowa family photographer and guide to a unique experience

I don't own a studio, but there is a local Des Moines studio space I recommend that has amazing lighting and props that can be rented for $100/hr. It has a lightly furnished at-home vibe to it along with a crib and studio backdrops if desired. After you book and select a date I would need to check availability with the studio to coordinate schedules.

Do you have a studio?

You are allowed 1 reschedule for any reason. Sometimes babies arrive much earlier or later than expected and we need to adjust the session date if it was scheduled in advance. If you need to reschedule a second time, you would need to pay an additional 50% retainer to hold a new date.

What if we need to reschedule our session?

I believe in embracing your bodies exactly as they are. I'll generally edit out minor scrapes or bruises if requested or noticable, however, my goal is to capture your real and authentic selves at whatever phase of life you're in.

Can you photoshop images?

We'll always try to go with the brightest rooms in your home since this will result in the best quality image and stay close to windows. If your home is exceptionally dark, we can always rent a local studio space or schedule a family session to photograph outside.

We certainly can! I'm happy to personalize your session and include fur babies in your photos if they are up for it! They are family too!

Can we include props or pets?

I require a non-refundable 50% booking fee and signed contract to reserve a spot on the calendar with me. All payments are made online through HoneyBook. Remaining payments are due 3 days before your session date.

How does payment work?

Typically, I photograph within 1 hour from West Des Moines, IA. 40 miles of travel is included. Additional travel is $1.25 per mile.

How far do you travel?

I have a wonderful Newborn Guide that will be provided to you after booking. It will help you prepare for your session and provide several tips and recommendations on what to wear and even where to shop if your closet isn't enough! If needed, you can always email me any questions or photos and I'll provide feedback or helpful tips!
